Quick and easy Thanksgiving ideas!

Hey! It's been a while. In case you forgot, Thanksgiving is next week and if you are like me, you usually find yourself scrambling with to figure out place cards and thankful ideas. I figured while I have a little time and my daughter is napping I'd throw a few ideas out there to help you out (if you need help that is).

I made a little scrapbook a few years ago and added a pocket in the back for the thankful notes people wrote.
They were simply clip art I printed and colored (pre kids I apparently had time to do that)

Another year I used my Cricut to cut out all sorts of tags. You could have the kids cut out shapes or simply buy some tags or  even just use blank cards or strips of paper, punch a hole and use a ring or string to hold them together! (and you've made a mini book, which is some of my favorite things to make)

If you're looking for a centerpiece idea to use for your thankful notes, you may recognize this from the store, a thankful tree. Collect some branches, use leaf cutouts (or real leaves you modpodged or contact papered) and hang them from the branches. Use a vase, or uber cute and trendy canning jars.

Have some corks from all the wine you've drunk? I may have a few (hundred) laying around. They could be used for the notes. They would be cute in a vase, bowl, jar...displayed all year round

Corks are also great for place card holders.

Here's a cute one you could use for the kids table. Take a lunch bag and put some candy, crayons, or little toys inside. Add a little bone, tie it up with some string, or make it easy and use an elastic band like I did and...

Voila! You've got a place marker + for the kids

Last for today I made a simple napkin fold with a place card and thankful note all in one. I did two versions of the napkin, one a tri-fold with the 'book' on top and one simply tied with the 'book' stuck in. I'm definitely doing one of these for this Thanksgiving.

I'll try to be back tomorrow with some more quick and easy ideas. If you have any ideas you've done or plan on doing, please share! We have a flickr page to get inspired and share ideas.

Newest Graphic 45

If you know us, one of our favorite paper companies is Graphic 45. They continue to dazzle and amaze us with their wonderful collections. Their latest, Olde Curiosity Shoppe, is no different.

It's full of the butterflies, peacock feather, oddities, that beautiful turquoise they
use so well... and who could NOT love the flying pigs!!

The new Staples they have out are just too good to pass up too.

Check out the amazing things that you can create from their blog.
(I can't wait to get a chance to sit down and play)
Just imagine the possibilities...

As always, we look forward to seeing you!

This beautiful collection is full of dusty purples, golden yellows, denim blue and popping oranges. It's the perfect to compliment those gorgeous spring pictures, or to design a great card.

Check out this beautiful, but simple card from Anita at Crafty Girl Designs.
Just goes to show, it doesn't have to complicated to be great!

Hope to see you soon.

We are so loving the new Curious Nature collection by Parson Gray for Free Spirit Fabrics!

Curious Nature was designed by David Butler, husband of well-known textile designer Amy Butler.  Now, don't think that David is piggy backing on his wife's success as he is a well-respected graphic designer, musician and artist himself.  We tip our hats to David as the textile designer!  Well done!

The collection is full of geometrics and little details and muted colors.  It can be worn by men, women and children alike!  It is refreshing to see this change in the fabric world, especially if you are not a wearer of brights or are sewing for the guys.

It is so hard to choose favorites but I have to lean towards the Ocean colorway.  No surprise for most of you who know me ... I am such a blue girl!  This fat quarter pack is my fav.

Check out the Parson Gray website for some great inspiration images.  Love how he did the layered skirt.  I might just have to make one of those!!

We have the full collection of flat (or quilting weight) cottons and most of the Home Dec weight fabrics, too.  Stop in the store soon and grab some for your stash!

Ciao,

Beth

New Fabric Collections!!

The holidays have come and gone and I am finally writing a post!!  Apologies all around!

We have been receiving so many new scrumptious fabric collections that I wanted to devote a post just to these lines.  Most are here and we have full yardage and fat quarter bundles for most.  Don't shop online when you can save the postage AND see them and feel them up close and personal!!

First up ... the debut collection from Lotta Jansdotter with Windham fabrics.  We love the gorgeous colors and graphic designs and Scandinavian simplicity to this line.  We have the majority of the collection in house right now!

We have also started carrying Blend Fabrics from Anna Marie Horner.  This fabric company features new and fun designers giving them a wide range of colors and styles.  Here's a taste of three of the lines we are carrying ....

Feather 'N Stitch  ... you all know how I love those birds with the spindly legs and they don't get much cuter than this one!

Kitchy Kitchen ... a fun colorful line full of veggies and ric rac and other cool stuff!

Garden of Delights ... and a delight they are!  Soft muted colors define this selection with lots of wonderful surprises - hummingbirds and butterflies and squirrels and more, all in a soft, sophisticated style.

Another new company we have started to carry ... Dear Stella!  Named for the designer Stella McCartney, these lines are beautiful with something for everyone!  My personal favorite (being such a blue girl) ... a little bit vintage,  a little bit art deco, some small prints, a great blue striped shirting style ... all in lovely, classic blue tones.  The Heirloom collection ...

Are you looking for something bright and fun with lots of punchy color?  The Modern Whimsy from Robert Kaufman is for you!  Check out these geese ... love them!

I am loving this new collection from Alexander Henry - Barcelona.  The colors are so gorgeous!  And there is a little bit of every color in this one, trending towards the earth tones with little punches of aqua and pink and yellow thrown in.  LOVE IT!

Rashida Coleman Hale has turned out an awesome new collection with fun washi tape images and florals and geometrics and squiggles and all sorts of stuff in brights on ivory and gray.  Perfect!

Another from Timeless ... Geo.  Love the bold colors and deep gray!  The city scape would make a great fabric square piece of art by itself!  Perfect quilting for the Manhattan folks!

Last but not least, Ty Pennington has done it again!  Adding to his debut collection, Ty has come out with a new series with a spin on his debut.  The colors are in rich orange (the Pantone color of the year), deep blues and teals, purples, greens.  We have this line in both home dec and flat cottons so think pillows, bags, skirts, tunics ... you name it!

This is just a taste of the full collection ....

Keep your eye out on our Facebook page when we announce the arrival of David Butler's debut collection, Curious Nature from Parson Grey.  David is the husband of well known textile designer Amy Butler but his style is all his own!  We are so loving this new line!  It is a great collection for men and boys but all the sewing gals will love it for themselves, too.  Check out the line on the Parson Gray website here.

Oh, my, we are having so much fun in the fabric world!!

Paper Dolls, don't worry, we have not forgotten you!  With CHA happening last weekend, there are a gazillion new fantastic things coming up soon for you, too!  Keep your eye out for new paper collections and all sorts of embellishments and goodies for your paper crating madness!

For now,

Beth
